What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is therapy which takes place whilst the client is under hypnosis. It is an effective treatment for any problem which resides in the mind. It works on your belief systems, attitudes and behaviours to enable you to move forward in a happier and healthier way.  

What is a hypnotic trance?

A hypnotic trance is a completely natural state in which the conscious “thinking” mind is quietened to allow the unconscious mind – where our habits and impulses are stored – to open up to positive suggestions for change.

We fall into an “altered” state of mind several times a day such as when we make a regular journey in the car, or we are completely engrossed in a book.  “Flow” activities like painting or craft often create a kind of trance state for the person doing the activity.

What isn’t hypnosis?

It isn’t magic: it cannot make you taller, better looking or cure disease. It also cannot create changes unless the change is something you actively want. So you have to want it, not your partner or your family.

What will it feel like to be hypnotised?

The feeling of being hypnotised is different for each person. For some,  there is a clear sense of going to a different level of consciousness but for others there is no sense of “going under” into a hypnotised state. Some people feel a heaviness, others a lightness, others just the chair or bed beneath them!

Can I get stuck in a hypnotic trance?

A hypnotic state cannot be induced without your permission: it is not something which is done to you; you are always a willing and consensual participant.

When can I expect to see results?

Some people will feel different after the very first listen of their download. For others they will feel increasingly different after each repeated listen. For the best results, listen to your download every day for two weeks, and at any time after this when you feel the need for an extra boost.

Can hypnosis erase the memory of a traumatic event?

No. What it can do is take the “sting” out of a past traumatic or upsetting experience so that it doesn’t have the same emotional effect on you in the present.

Is an audio download a replacement for face to face therapy?

Yes – in some circumstances. For many people,  seeing a therapist in person on a regular basis is simply not a possibility. This might be for reasons of cost, travel, commitment or, for some people, the intimate setting of being in a room with one other person and discussing their problems is too overwhelming. Not everyone is ready for that.  But everyone deserves a chance to feel better. Therapeutic downloads which are actually effective are the perfect solution. You are in complete in control of how, when and where you listen. It’s fast, effective and straight forward.
