Sleep (or lack of it) is probably the most emotionally charged aspect of parenting.
Poor sleeping habits in a child will have a profound effect on the whole family – both physically and mentally – as well as the child themselves.
Children can feel trapped by their worries about sleep as much as grown ups.
The emotional distress is made worse by anxieties around sleep: your child worrying about getting to sleep; and parents also worrying about whether their child will get to sleep or if they will be woken up in the night.
Sleep can become a huge issue within the family with everyone losing sight of it being a natural process which we can influence.
The Sleep Fixes
The Sleep Fixes will move the emphasis away from sleep so your child instead aims to enjoy resting in their cosy welcoming bed. This will reduce the anxiety around sleep which may itself have become an obstacle to sleeping well.
Some of the Fixes use a story to relax the child and all use progressive muscle relaxation exercises which, when done repeatedly for a few nights, will send a message to the child’s brain and body that it is time to rest.
