You have access to an MP3 download.
Check your email inbox (including spam) to find out how to access yours.
You should listen to your download at least once a day for at least two weeks.
The more you listen, the more powerful the results.
Your download will be sent to you as a standard MP3 file which can be played on any computer, tablet or phone. It is advisable to download the MP3 file before listening to avoid a poor internet connection causing the recording to jump.
A Mind Movie is a visualisation in the form of imagined moving images – like a movie – which you create to watch inside your mind when you listen to your download. You will have been sent a guide on how to create your personalised Mind Movie visualisations. Your mental Mind Movie will power up your listening experience because you will be using imagery which specifically motivates you.
The more vivid and engaging you make your Mind Movie, the more powerful the results. It’s essential that your Mind Movie includes the emotions which accompany the moving images.
Your download will prompt you to “Play” your Mind Movie visualisation in your mind’s eye and leave a short interval within the download for you to do so.
By saying to yourself “calm” on your exhale when you play your Mind Movie showing you enjoying feelings of calm confidence, you will condition your brain to link together those calm confident feelings and the trigger of exhaling and saying to yourself “calm”. It means that wherever you are, if you breathe out and say to yourself “calm”, your brain will release those same calm confident feelings.
Our lives contain experiences which, if repeated, trigger an automatic response in our behaviour. In the most famous example, Pavlov, the Russian scientist, rang a bell every time he fed his dogs. After a while, just hearing the bell would trigger his dogs to salivate. An otherwise neutral stimulus like a bell ringing took on a positive meaning for the dogs.
Other examples of classic conditioning might be: standing up when the school bell is rung; or feeling tearful at the sight of a needle because of past painful injections; or a song from the happy moments in the past putting you in a good mood. Put simply, two stimuli are linked together to produce a learned response.
You should listen to your download somewhere quiet, where you feel comfortable and you won’t be interrupted (e.g. while lying in bed). You may also wish to use headphones to make the experience even more powerful and immersive.
You can listen to your download at any time which suits you, except when operating machinery, driving, under the influence of drugs or alcohol or when something else requires your full attention.
You can listen at any time of the day or night which suits you: you could choose to get up half an hour earlier to listen and set the tone for the day, or you may prefer to listen last thing at night before going to sleep.
Some people prefer to listen at a time when their energy naturally dips such as mid morning or mid afternoon. If you are listening on your phone before going to bed, make sure it is on silent “airplane” mode and placed out of reach until morning.
Listening to your download will be a pleasant and comfortable experience. You will enter a relaxed state of mind in which your brain opens up to new ways of thinking, feeling and behaving.
Hypnotherapists are divided on this subject: some believe that a light sleep is similar to a hypnotic trance and your brain will be open and suggestible to change at this time; others believe that sleeping during hypnosis negates its benefits as people cannot learn when they are sleep.
Research suggests that our brains do not switch off while we sleep, but process the events of the day. We know that we are certainly capable of hearing while we sleep. Anecdotally, many of our clients who have experienced significant change in their thought and behaviour patterns have also reported falling asleep whilst listening to their recordings.
Our view is that it will simply depend on the client and the circumstances. A client using a download for sleep problems will likely benefit from listening to their download even in light sleep. A client using the download to replace the habit of binge eating with an alternative activity may need to be more alert during the listening process to activate the “replacement” behaviour. If you find that you are repeatedly falling asleep when listening, perhaps find a time in the day when you are more alert and less likely to fall asleep.
